Do africans think we stink?

I just got back from Soweto, while I was there I had to take a cab to my hotel one day and I had to share it with this African guy. Now this guy smelled like a skunk crawled up his shirt pooped and then died, I was trying to make Americans look good so I chose to ignore it, but he kept giving me dirty looks….after about 4 minutes all my nose hairs were singed off from the stench so I had to say somthin I was like “what is that smell…9its smells like sh!t?” he said “eet, dowse smell like sheat dowesn’t eet” I said “ n-I-g-g-a that’s you” He said “NO nee-gah dat is you!” I said “you need to take a bath” he replied “nee-gah you need NOT to take a bath!” then I messed around and farted he was like “ mmm..what is that fragrance you are wearing…do it again”

Real question:

Are pleasant scents universal?

Most countries that spawn from Europe enjoy a lot of perfume, scented body wash, shampoo, lotions…etc
Do other countries think we stink
@CK

lol…the story is not real…it just illustrates the question
@ Justice

why is it offensive and prejudice?

Its an ezaggeration of a fact, many countries especially in africa and the middle-east dont use the large amount of scented products like europe america and australia does…..to us the natural oder of ones body may not be pleasent, and to them the smell of our deoderant and shampoos are not pleasent…much like if a person sprays too much body spray on at one time

  1. Africans don’t like African Americans. That may be why.

    I find your joking offensive and predjudice.

    Here is why because the N word desribing Black people is like the F word to many
    I see your point but is it neccessary to use the N word??? It stirs up racism most people dont like that Hey,I am just looking out for you in case someone would report you and no it wont be me.

  9. No, pleasant scents are a little subjective. I think scents have a little to do with our diets. And we tend to like the scent of people who smell like the people we grew up around. People also seem to come up with stereotypes about how other people smell.

    For example, I’ve heard people from China and Africa say white people smell like red meat or ham. I’ve heard white people say chinese people smell like fish and indian people smell like curry. I’ve also heard chinese say middle easterners and Latin Americans smell like they have on too much perfume. With the exception of a Peruvian I once met who went a little too heavy on the cologne, I haven’t found any of the above to be true.

  10. It’s actually a good question, and the answer is : pleasant scents are subjective to cultures. In some cultures, a very strong natural body odor (what most Westerners consider B.O) is considered quite pleasant and women will flock to a man who smells like he hasn’t bathed in a month. In other cultures, people prefer it when other people smell like deodorant and soap and perfume. It’s all a matter of what you’ve been taught from childhood.
