My family situation has been bothering me for the past year or so I thought I might see what people think of it cause its really annoying me…
My Mom is obsessed with me it seems and my Dad and I have grown apart day by day. She is always singing my praises and sticking up for me while my Dad seems to back my sister and her undertakings. I am not a “mama’s boy” or a pussy (I play football, workout, chill with the homies) and I wish I was closer to my Dad, it just hasn’t worked out. I also don’t ask for all the attention from my Mom, she just seems to give it to me without my discretion or want of it. Honestly I find it easier to talk to my Mom about life in general as my Dad seems just too remote and kind of awkward to talk to. My Dad doesn’t really seem to get my sense of humor or the way I operate but at the same time my Mom overanalyzes my life constantly for her own enjoyment. Its really hard to be myself around them both when they are two seemingly different influences. I am a senior in high school and I cannot wait to head to college. I don’t hate any of them but I just can’t seem to really click with either of them without it being weird.
Get the five Love languages book. It’s obvious to me that your dad doesn’t speak yours and while your mother does to some extent she takes it overboard. And despite it being weird sit down with your dad and tell him what you want. “Dad; I feel like we’ve been getting farther and farther apart. I don’t like it because you are my dad and I want to spend time with you. I want to be able to come to you and talk to you about things especially since some things Mom won’t understand but you will because you are guy.” My guess is your dad isn’t intentionally cutting you out but he’s trying to make up to your sister what your mother is doing for you so she doesn’t feel left out or anything like that.
I’m sure if you talk to him he’ll understand.

your mom needs to get a little life of her own, she is bored with your dad and is using you as a way out of being face to face with him. she should have friends or join a group where she will try different types of activities, dancing may be?
