   you cant get a pokeradar in heartgold or sould silver but you can get one in platinum after beating the elite four… to use it all you do is go to key items and use the item near a patch of grass, then the grass will shake and when you walk on it you will encounter a pkmn… howeveer i want to tell u that shiny pkmn r incredibly rare and u actualy have a 1/8192 chance of finding one 8(

   Hi Kristin L

   Purchase many repel potions at the Pokemart and use them while you are chaining. When you use a repel potion, this helps to not trigger random battles. If you trigger a battle with a Pokemon that is not the same type of Pokemon you are chaining, the chain will be broken and you will have to start over again.

   Stand in a patch of grass and use the PokeRadar. You will find it in the “Key Items” pocket of your backpack. You can set the PokeRadar to activate when you press the “Y” button to make it easier to use.

   Watch the screen for patches of shaking grass. You can find three kinds of shaking grass. Regular shaking grass means there is a regular Pokemon inside. Patches of grass that have white spots indicate a rare Pokemon is inside. Patches of grass that glow white indicate a shiny Pokemon is inside.
   Walk into any shaking patch of grass to battle and defeat the Pokemon. This will start the chain.

   Use the PokeRadar to locate the next patch of shaking grass. When you walk into it, you should battle the same type of Pokemon as the first patch.

   Continue to use the PokeRadar to battle the same type of Pokemon over and over again. Each time you defeat a Pokemon in this way, you will add a link to your battle chain and increase the chance that a shiny Pokemon of that type will appear the next time you use the PokeRadar.

   Walk into a glowing white patch of grass to trigger a battle with a shiny Pokemon. You can use your Pokemon team to weaken it. Then use a Pokeball to capture it and add it to your Pokemon collection

   You can only get it in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Sorry :/
