‘Come on down, Margaret! You’ve done it – you’ve gotten your chance to win the grand prize! All that’s left to do is spin the wheel.’
The camera zoomed in on an elderly woman who looked a bit dazed, but happy nonetheless. I felt happiness and elation for her – she had been a stellar player, and always up for the laugh too. As soon as these thoughts ran through my head, I felt a little bit sick at myself. What had my life amounted to? Sitting in my fluffy dressing gown on a Saturday night in front of a cheesy television game show, whose target audience were people in the twilight of their life, eager to see their friends on the small screen. I didn’t even have the excuse of not being able to find the remote, as it was resting in my palm, or the influence of my parents, as they had left for the pub to meet with their friends and have a good time.
I sighed and changed the channel, deciding to deny myself the pleasure of watching Margaret aim for the jackpot. I came to rest on a music channel. I hummed along to the song as I rubbed my smooth legs. I had decided to make a special effort tonight, after being incredibly lazy for the last few weeks. They had been shaved, moisturised and exfoliated, and were perfectly smooth. They were my proudest achievement of the week. Freshly shaved legs and nowhere to go…this was indeed a night of unsettling realisations.
Honestly, I’m just throwing around words, I doubt I’ll ever finish this and I’m curious. Ah boredom…
Yeah, it’s a good start!
