My Mom’s side of the family is dysfunctional. My Uncle David had not seen and talked to my grandmother, Uncle Don, Mom for 20years. My grandmother sold her house and gave the money to Uncle Don. Uncle David thought he should of gotten the money. After 20years of not seeing his family, he showed up on my grandmother’s doorstep to get her a psychological evaluation because he wanted her to be institutionalized. My Uncle Don and Uncle David appeared in a court room with lawyers and my grandmother was not declared incomponent. (long story, but that’s the gist of it)
I haven’t seen my mother, grandmother, uncle Don on my Mom’s side of the family for three years. I haven’t seen Uncle David ever since I ate Thanksgiving dinner with him in 2001. I do not talk to Uncle David because he is greedy and selfish.
My Uncle Walter died on my Dad’s side of the family and I did not attend the Walter’s memorial servibecause I do not like to travel very far. Some relatives are upset with my absence.
I am going to a memorial service tomorrow for my Dad’s side of the family and some relatives dislike my absence from Walter’s memorial service. If I do not see my relatives then it does not bother me.

Sredni Vashtar by Saki?
The comment that most clearly reflects the point of view of a 10year old child is….”he did not pretend to have the remotest knowledge of what is was, but he privately hoped that it was dashing and not very respectable.”
What does that mean? Why is that the answer? thanks
